Thunder Mountain Date Changed to August 20th Because of Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y. rescheduling their "Remembering Richie Evans" 61 lap event on top of Thunder Mountain Speedway's T-3 All Star Series event which was originally scheduled for 8/13/08, Thunder Mountain Speedway in conjunction with Gypsum Express owners John and Laura Wight along with T3 founders Ken and Mary Shupp have decided to change the scheduled date to Wednesday, August 20, 2008 for what is expected to be a stellar field of Small Block Modified racing.
“I am really pumped for this show, perhaps like no other event that has been staged at Thunder Mountain.” Those were the words expressed by Thunder Mountain Promoter; Dick Stark as he revealed plans for what could very well be the biggest night in the history of the Center Lisle, NY facility.
“As soon as Shelly and I had John and Laura Wight of Gypsum secure the $12,000 plus purse I immediately contacted the T3 All Star Series about a sanction for the event. It didn’t take long for Kenny and Mary Shupp of the T3 Series to sign on and we now have the makings of a huge event set for Wednesday, August 13, 2008”
Final details of the event including any support classes will be finalized within the next few weeks, but according to sources at the T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds presented by Troyer Race Cars, “Unfortunately we lost a show this year at McKean County due to their ongoing financial struggles. We have been contacted by numerous different venues about a date; however we were very reluctant about signing on another event to fill the void due to the economy and travel expenses. That all changed with one phone call from Dick and when he made his proposal and knowing that John and Laura Wight are guaranteeing the purse it then became a done deal. We are still sticking to our philosophy of a limited schedule in 2008 once again because of the high overhead costs of traveling to these events, however because of the first class treatment that we received at Thunder Mountain last season coupled with this rare opportunity of running for a phenomenal purse we can feel very comfortable with this added event to our 08 schedule.”
Further details including a total purse breakdown will be forthcoming and will be posted on both the Thunder Mountain and T3 All Star Series web sites. Racers will be governed by the existing T3 All Star Series rules which are posted at t3allstarseries.com., and you may also visit www.thunderracetrack.com for any other necessary race information.

DEWERT SPEED OF CORNING, NY TO PROVIDE PRODUCT DISCOUNTS FOR MANY OF THE T3 ALL STAR SERIES TEAMS IN 2008. (Woodhull, NY) Many drivers would consider a top ten in the final point standings of the 2007 T3 All Star Series a pretty good accomplishment considering the top quality competitors that follow the series. For Dylan Dewert of Corning, NY it was a bitter sweet season at best considering he lost the inaugural T3 Championship in 2005 to Billy VanPelt by just a few scant points. “We finished ninth in the 2006 T3 All Star Series Championship, stated Dewert but we had all sorts of bad luck starting with the first race of the season where we lost a motor. It was nearly half way through the year that we finally started hitting our stride and then we were just too far back to make any noise.” In 2007 Dewert swapped the top point spot with Ray Bliss Jr. numerous times before a late season rally by Billy VanPelt found him once again being crowned T3 Champion. “Mercer in September of 2007 was the turning point as we had a second place in sight when a lapped car changed all that for us with two laps to go, stated Dewert. At that point we lost our momentum and couldn’t re-catch Billy.” Ultimately Double D finished a close third in the 2008 final point tally to Bliss. However, like Ray Bliss Jr., Dylan Dewert and all of the rest of the T3 All Star regulars they will all be gunning for VanPelt when the 2008 season begins. Through his privately owned company, Dewert Speed of Corning, Dylan Dewert will once again be a product sponsor of the fourth year tour group by offering discount certificates to several drivers during the 2008 T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds. Details of the sponsorship package will be released at a later date, however it is expected that a different driver will receive the redeemable product certificate at each tour stop to help distribute the wealth to as many different racers as possible. “Each year we have done something different for the drivers to try and help out as many of them as possible and this season we are looking at a totally different approach to meet the needs of even more of the teams,” stated Dewert who did pick up a T3 feature win at the Woodhull Raceway in 2007 making it a pair of T3 All Star Series feature wins since the series began in 2005. Dewert Speed is an authorized Genesis Racing Shocks and Bicknell Racing Products Dealer along with a full supply of bolt on and safety components from some of the nations leading parts manufacturers. Dewert Speed is also a dealer of VP Racing Fuels and the highly successful American Racer Tires. Dewert Speed is located on Gorton Road in Corning and can be reached evenings and weekends at (607) 937-3659.
